If you are from Nigeria and want to obtain an Australian visa, applications need to be made online by creating an ImmiAccount on the Australian Government’s Department of Home Affairs website. An ImmiAccount allows you to create and manage your visa application.
If you are unable to lodge an online application, you may lodge a paper application for some visas at a TLScontact Australian Visa Application Centre (AVAC) in Nigeria. However, an additional service fee will be payable to TLScontact to utilise this service.
The Australian Government does not provide services at the Australian High Commission in Abuja, Nigeria. All visa applications to Australia from Nigeria are processed through the Australian High Commission in Pretoria, South Africa, with the exception of humanitarian visas. The Australian High Commission in Nairobi, Kenya manages humanitarian visa applications.
Getting an Australian Visa from Nigeria
All visa applications from Nigeria also require additional information to be supplied, including biometrics and vaccination information.
Biometrics
All visa applicants, who reside in Nigeria regardless of their nationality will need to provide their biometrics (fingerprints and digital photo) as part of their Australian visa application.
Visa applicants will be sent a letter requiring them to attend an Australian Biometric Collection Centre (ABCC) in person to provide these biometrics. Some applicants may be exempt or excluded from providing this information under Australian Government policy.
Vaccinations
Anyone who has spent 28 days or more in certain countries including Nigeria since 5 May 2014 will be required to provide a certificate of vaccination against polio with their visa application.
Eligibility Criteria
As with any visa, applicants must meet eligibility criteria relevant to the visa they are applying for. In addition to the specific requirements of the visa, applicants will also need to:
- Meet health requirements.
- Meet character requirements.
- Meet all visa conditions and obey Australian laws.
The visa fee, processing time, length of stay, and visa conditions will depend on the visa granted at the time.
