Who can apply for a child visa?

People with a parent residing in Australia can apply for this visa. They must be sponsored by their parent or parent’s spouse or de-facto partner, all of whom should be an Australian citizen, permanent resident or an eligible New Zealand citizen.

While in most cases applicants should be under 18 years of age, visa applications can be lodged until the child turns 25 years of age. Applicants must be single, i.e., unmarried, not in a de-facto relationship or engaged.

Do applicants need to be in Australia?

Applicants must be offshore when applying for a child visa.

Can siblings be included on the application?

If the applicant has siblings wishing to apply for a child visa, they must each submit a separate application.
