How Do I Get An Australian Business Visa From India?
If you’re a business professional from India and planning to visit Australia for work purposes, you will need an Australian business visa.
You can apply for an Australian business visa online through an ImmiAccount on the Australian Government’s Department of Home Affairs website. Your application may require you to submit additional supporting documentation which can be uploaded to your ImmiAccount. You will also need to pay the visa fee at the time of application.
What Type of Australian Business Visa do I Need?
The business reasons for your visit will determine what type of business visa you require and the processing time.
If you are travelling to Australia for a short period of time, you may require a Business Visitor Visa (subclass 600).
This Australian business visa allows you to:
- Make general business or employment enquiries.
- Investigate, negotiate, enter into or review a business contract.
- Conduct activities as part of an official government visit.
- Take part in a conference, trade fair or seminar (you cannot be paid by the organisers to take part).
- Undertake tourist activities.
You can’t work for or provide services to a business or organisation based in Australia nor can you sell goods or services directly to the public.
This is a temporary business visa which is generally granted for three months. There may be circumstances where stays of up to 12 months may be granted.
If you are looking to own and manage a business in Australia, conduct business and investment activity in Australia or undertake an entrepreneurial activity in Australia you will need a business innovation and investment visa (Subclass 188).
The business innovation and investment visa has the following streams:
- Business Innovation Stream
- For people with business skills. It allows you to operate a new or existing business in Australia.
- You can stay up to five years.
- You must be nominated by an Australian state or territory government agency in order to apply for this Australian business visa.
- Processing time for this visa is 15 – 36 months.
- Investor Stream
- Applicants are required to invest at least AUD2.5 million in Australian investments that meet certain requirements and maintain business or investment activity in Australia.
- You can stay up to five years.
- You must be nominated by an Australian state or territory government agency to be able to apply for this visa.
- Processing time for this visa is 23 – 44 months.
- Significant Investor Stream
- For people who invest at least AUD5 million in Australian investments that meet certain requirements and maintain investment activity in Australia.
- You can stay up to five years.
- You must be nominated by an Australian state or territory government agency or Austrade in order to apply for this visa.
- Processing time for this visa is 14 – 22 months.
- Business Innovation Extension Stream
- Allows holders of a Business and Innovation Investment Visa – Business Innovation Steam extend their stay in Australia.
- You can stay in Australia for up to 6, 7 or 8 years after the date of grant of the original Business Innovation Visa.
- You must be nominated by an Australian state or territory government agency in order to apply for this visa.
- Processing time for this visa is 8 – 14 months.
- Significant Investor Extension Stream
- This visa allows holders of a Business Innovation and Investment Visa – Significant Investment Stream extend their stay in Australia for up to four more years.
- You must be nominated by an Australian state or territory government agency or Austrade in order to apply for this visa.
- Premium Investor Stream
- For people who are nominated by Austrade and who invest at least AUD15 million in Australian investment and/or philanthropic contributions.
- Entrepreneur Stream
- For start-up and early-stage entrepreneurs who have been endorsed to develop their concepts and been nominated by a state or territory government agency.
- You can stay up to five years.
- You must have a funding agreement with a third party to carry out entrepreneurial activities.
