One of Western Australia’s most popular and beautiful city beaches, Cottesloe Beach provides paradise in Perth.
Fantastically located just 15 minutes west from the city centre, visitors are able to unwind on the internationally-renowned golden sands, pop to an abundance of nearby cafes, bars and restaurants, and take part in a number of activities, on land and in the water. The beach itself is 1.5km long, and provides a spot for swimming, snorkelling and surfing. The large grassy areas make it especially family-friendly with plenty of room for picnics and play. With Mudurup Rocks and Swanbourne Beach on either side, it’s popular for joggers, cyclists and dog walkers. It’s also one of the best places to watch the sunset.
When it comes to food, Cottesloe takes great advantage of its location by the ocean, with fresh seafood taking pride of place on many a restaurant menu, including the humble fish and chips and famous calamari. The aptly-named Cottesloe Beach Hotel is a firm favourite amongst locals and visitors, with a garden, fish restaurant and local and international beers on tap.
Such an idyllic place as Cottesloe, house prices are steep, but at such a close proximity to Perth city, if they’re out of your price range, you needn’t live here to be able to enjoy it. An easy seaside destination for locals for over 100 years, you need only hop on the train or bus, or jump in your car, to eat, drink and play in Cottesloe.
